A Series Celebrating the Power of Quiet Courage
The Quiet Valor series shines a light on the extraordinary lives of individuals whose quiet courage and selfless actions have shaped families, communities, and nations. Through carefully researched stories of people who acted with integrity, compassion, and conviction—often without fame or recognition—these books honor the moral strength that quietly sustains society. From everyday citizens and young people to overlooked architects of change, Quiet Valor reveals how small acts of responsibility and courage can leave a lasting impact on the world around us.

The Quiet Valor Series

Book One – Quiet Valor: Unsung Architects of the American Promise
Fifteen extraordinary Americans whose integrity, courage, and service helped shape the moral foundations of the United States.
Book Two – Quiet Valor: Children Who Cared, Endured, and Inspired
True stories of young people who faced adversity with resilience and compassion, inspiring those around them.
Book Three – Quiet Valor: Everyday Americans
Stories of ordinary citizens whose quiet acts of responsibility, kindness, and courage changed lives, neighborhoods, and communities.
Book Four – Quiet Valor International: Weavers of Human Promise
Stories from around the world highlighting individuals whose compassion, courage, and service strengthened communities and inspired hope.
Book Five – Quiet Valor: Moments
Brief, true stories of ordinary people who step forward when it would be easier not to—reminding us that small human actions still matter, even when no one is counting.
Book Six– Quiet Valor Fiction Stories
This volume carries the ethic of Quiet Valor into fiction. Where the other books document real people, these literary stories invent characters and settings, a chessboard in a courtyard, a watchmaker’s window, notes left behind, a crossing guard, in order to inhabit from the inside what the nonfiction observes from the outside.
Book Seven – Quiet Valor: Nurses Who Cared (with Jennifer Harrington, RN)
This volume brings the Quiet Valor lens to a profession built on sustained care. Written with Jennifer Harrington, RN, it gathers true stories of nurses whose steadiness, judgment, and compassion held patients and families together in their most difficult hours.
Book Eight – Quiet Valor: Teachers and Paraprofessionals Who Changed Lives (with Lara Jacobs and Colleen White)
This volume applies the Quiet Valor ethic to the work of teaching and the often-overlooked paraprofessionals who work alongside teachers. Written with Lara Jacobs and Colleen White, it gathers true stories of educators whose patience and persistence shaped young lives in ways that are rarely measured.
Book Nine – Quiet Valor: What Lies Between Us — True Stories of Dogs, Cats, and People
This companion volume turns the Quiet Valor lens toward the relationship between people and their animals. Through true, documented stories, a shelter dog who waited 1,043 days for the right family, a feral cat who held a fifteen-foot distance for five years before finally crossing it, a stray who ran beside one runner across the Gobi Desert, the book explores what passes between a human and an animal when each chooses to keep showing up.
Book Ten – Quiet Valor: Community Builders — The People Who Shape the Places We Call Home
This volume honors the people who quietly hold their communities together, the gardeners, organizers, restorers, and neighbors who build and protect the places we call home. These are not officials or celebrated leaders, but individuals who saw something a community needed and simply set about providing it.
These are not stories of grand speeches or public triumphs. They are stories of listening, showing up, standing firm, and reaching out.
These are the lives that remind us:
- Valor isn’t always loud.
- Legacy isn’t always visible.
- And greatness often serves without notice.
If these pages do their work, they will not only honor the people within them, but they will also help us recognize and appreciate the quiet valor all around us.
And perhaps, awaken a bit more of it in ourselves.
All Quiet Valor stories are based on real individuals and documented events. Sources are identified so readers can explore the history behind each story.
Everyday Heroes on Facebook
Several times a week, I share a short true story of someone whose quiet courage makes a difference, the kind of person who helps because it needs doing and never asks to be thanked. These are the same kinds of stories that fill the Quiet Valor books, told one at a time, as I find them.
Follow along, read the latest stories, and share the ones that move you.
The Weekly Quiet Valor Newsletter
Every Sunday, I send a short newsletter with a single true story of quiet valor, an ordinary person doing something quietly decent, written down so it isn’t forgotten. It takes only a few minutes to read, and it’s a small, steady reminder that this kind of courage is still all around us.
There is no charge and no catch. If you’d like to receive it, just send me a note and I’ll add you to the list.
